Renderers are perhaps the original recyclers and our essential role in utilising ABP is often overlooked in discussions on food and food waste. Treating ABP is key to the sustainability of agriculture and food production, reducing the overall carbon footprint of the animal-based food supply chain from farm to fork.

Rendering is essentially the recycling and re-use of animal by-products that would otherwise need to be landfilled.

Our products are used as direct replacements for primary products such as petrochemicals, and fertilisers and are more environmentally friendly than other replacements such as palm oil and soya from rain forest areas. This gives them a lower carbon footprint and reduces the overall environmental impact of the animal-based food supply chain.

This protects natural resources by replacing fossil carbon, nitrogen, phosphates and imported plant materials such as soya and palm oil, capturing maximum value from natural biological resources.

By processing ABP from our supply chain partners and returning the derived products back into the supply chain we close the loop in accordance with a circular bioeconomy model as illustrated in the Figure below.
